woolly worm replied: "I THINK BOILED PEANUTS WOULD BE DIFFERENT.JUST GET A BAG OF PEANUTS IN THE SHELL AND GET SOME WATER BOILING AND TOSS THE PEANUTS INTO THE PAN,ADD SOME SALT AND PUT THE COVER ON AND BOIL THEM FOR A COUPLE HOURS THEN LET THEM SIT IN THE HOT WATER TILL YOUR READY TO PRESENT THEM TO THE READING CLASS. ADD ENOUGH SALT SO THE WATER TASTES SALTY BUT NOT TOO SALTY. LET THEM BOIL SLOWLY FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT THEN JUST LET THEM SIT IN THE WATER , THEY SHOULD TAKE ON A DARKER LOOK . BUY THE SALTED PEANUTS THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO ADD ANY SALT. ENJOY"

What is the best food for my kitten with diarrhea? My 16-week old kitten has been checked for worms 3 times within 2 weeks and all tests have been negative. She was on flagyl and probiotic and is done with that. Her food consisted of Merrick wet food and Wellness Dry food. I keep a water fountain clean and full at all times. She does not eat table scraps or get milk. She is not dehydrated and is gaining weight at a healthy pace. The only symptom is very loose stool or diarrhea. And until today, she was only pooping two or three times a day. Today she pooped twice between 6:30 and 7:00 am. Assuming it is her diet, which seems the most logical at this point, what are your thoughts on foods that claim to be nutritionally balanced for all life stages? What are your suggestions for brands of foods that do not have by-products, wheat or corn? I understand the Wellness may be contributing since it is an adult food, but I didn't realize that until yesterday. I thought it was for all life stages. I want her to have the best food available.

Jess replied: "youre feeding her good brands! Good job!. maybe stay away from the wet food. And get her a kitten dry. Innova is good or natura pet (same thing) Im not sure they have a kitten food. You can go to their website and find a store in your area that carries their brand. And if that pet store carries this brand, then they typically only deal with the best food products and they might also have some suggestions for you. I checked the website they have evo kitten dry which is good, but youre using a great food although Im not fan of wellness because i found a piece of plastic embedded in my dogs wellness ddry, i stopped buying them and went to innova evo Science diet was on the bad food list, Innova was not. That guy is WRONG"

light of darkness replied: "is she a female? because if she is there is allways a time when female kittins to have it. the best food to give her is what usually give ur kittin, and give her/him kittin biscits. if u want u can take ur kittin to the vet."

skittle replied: "i worked for Nutro/ Natural Choice dog/cat food, and i honestly do think that that is the best brand of pet food for your animal. They dont use chicken by-products(they use chicken meal, which is the part of the chicken that you or i would eat with all the moisture taken out), or Corn (they use corn meal so its easily digestible, and its uses more of the protein so theres less watse) , they also have Chicory Extract, Cranberry Powder which helps with teeths and bad breath. if you do switch them over by splitting their food up by doin 25% of their usual food and 75% of old for 2-3 days then do 50-50 for 2 or 3 days and then 75% new 25% old for 2 or 3 days, and fianlly you can use just the new food, that will make their transition to their new food, easier on their insides and for you. :) If you have any questions let me know : )"

Krista replied: "I asked my vet what food I should feed my cat. She said she feeds her pets Innova. All human quality ingredients. I was feeding my cat Blue Buffalo, as they were supposed to be like that, but they found out their manufacturer was lying to them and putting rice protein (instead of whole rice) in their canned foods, and it turned out it was one of the brands recalled :( I'm going to try to find Innova for my cat. If it's good enough for my vet it's good enough for me :) My vet is excellent. As to the diarrhea... Are you giving your kitten milk? Most cats can't digest milk. They're extremely lactose intolerant."

Houston P replied: "If this condition has gone on for two to three days, your cat is at risk for dehydration and needs to be veterinarian checked. Home first aid would be to give her a couple of tablespoons of cottage cheese daily for three days and get off the Yuppie Cat foods please as even some of their top brands are on the poison list. Take her off the wet foods for awhile as they may be contributing to stool liquidity. Try Science Diet Growth for kittens if they have it in dry for the next couiple of months. You get major points for daily if not twice daily water change and be very wary of wet food for a couple of months. Three times a week should be your max on that after she delivers more "solid" reports."

Mick replied: "Here, check this out: The vet who developed this site got started in her research when she was looking for a solution for one of her kitty's chronic diarrhea, and she tells what she learned. You'll also find a lot of information about specific foods. On the sidebar menu check out Commercial Caned Food Choices."

Randl_4u replied: "your kitten sounds like its getting the best of care food wise, the loose stool an diarea is just her system doing a little fine tuning your vet probably said just to watch her stools an it may be a slight reaction to the medications (just a healthy guess) hope she gets a clean bill of health good luck to you an kitty"

sundragonjess replied: "Anything with chicken and rice. Maybe Iams?"

Ken replied: "Hi You can try a bit of acidouphoulous which is available at health stores. Note. Wellness is a good quality food but their dry is not good and cats are much better off on a low carb canned food diet"

How do I conduct a food bank at a high school in California? I'm a senior, and for my senior project I am putting together a food bank. The food collected is donated food from other students, and the remains of the cafeteria food. It is all packaged, so there's no worry. The food is to to go the needy students, of this campus. However, keeping every individual under consideration, how do I go about this food bank without offending any of the students? I'm sure a few would like to remain anonymous, because they'd be too embarrassed to publicize their necessity for food. So, how do I make it anonymous? Any tips, or ideas?

Mike S replied: "To be honest, I'm not sure you can. Once you publicize the food bank as being available, you almost certainly have to have someone supervising the room containing all the food to be sure no one trashes the place or contaminates the food. If just one person is in charge, that's probably about the closest you can get to anonymity. The other option would be to offer the food online (using the high school computers) and the needy student could indicate an address for it to be shipped (the student could use his own home, a relative's, or a friend's place)... bottom line... you really wouldn't know who would benefit in this case."

In Gainesville replied: "Instead of having students come pick it up themselves, send a letter home to parents and invite them to come pick up food. If they pick it up from an adult, then nobody will ever know who came and got food."

What food should I use for urinary problems for a male cat? My cat Lionel is ten years old and still active. However he has had reoccurring urinary tract problems. I recently took him to the vet and they gave me a cat food (Prescription Diet C/D) which Lionel is supposed to eat for the rest of his life. (It has low magnesium). My problem is that the food is very expensive and I have to go to the vet everytime to get it. Is there another kind of dry cat food that is available? I heard that Nutro is a good brand. Also, I would like suggestions on any alternatives beside the dry food. I can ask my vet these questions but I would like to have a 2nd (and 3rd, 4th etc) opinions from Yahoo answers. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why do I get food poisoning from fast food places? I eat a lot at fast food places and I've noticed that I get frequent food poisonings lately. In about 50% cases of eating there I get a diarreah the next day. In about 5% I throw up, have temperature and cannot eat anything for a few days - stomach flue? And it is the same for fast food and upscale restaurants. The only places I dont get a food poisoning is in my company's cafeteria (that has mostly fast food) and the best restaurants in Seattle, where I live?

TheyCallMeMoe replied: "b/c its unhealthy junk food. stop eating it"

llamalaxative137 replied: "weeeelllll diarreah isnt very fun, even in ur fast food u eat.... soo u should eat "normal" not food poisining food because if u dont want the process to start over u should but some times u can get poisned from ppl i think they might just hate u but i dont know because im not in the fast food bizz. Switch To Jenny Craig.. God Bless"

f44oster replied: "i would say poor hygiene....i personally wouldnt go back again."

Steven C replied: "You should probably see your doctor and maybe have him refer you to an Allergist. You might have food allergies. If you keep a record of where you eat and what you eat the doctor may find out why you get sick. If it were me I would want to know so that I could avoid those foods. Food allergies can be real serious. See a doctor."

Handyman replied: "Be careful where you eat. Some places do not enforce sanitary practices as much as other places. If one of the employees doesn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom, touching money, or pretty much touching anything other than food, the food you eat can become contaminated. Or, if one of the employees is sick already, and touches your food, it can make you sick, too. I work in the food service industry and I am very strict with my employees to make sure they wash their hands often. However, lazy managers who don't care or employees who don't care will cause problems. Other than that, you may be eating too many fatty, greasy foods, and your body is sending you a message. Fast food is very unhealthy and you should only eat it once in a while if you really have to."

gr8fuljimmy replied: "Fast Food restaraunts are generally safe. They throw more food in the trash than you could ever believe. The problem, judging from your question, is that you have a really bad diet. You need to eat at home more often. If you will just eat food that you prepared at home you will not experience this sickness that you are getting from Fast Food. Your really cheating yourself by not eating at home on so many levels. First, there is the cost. Then, the obvious sickness your getting from eating out too much. Dude, go to the grocery store, start with the Shells and Cheese and build on that. your gonna die at 39 eating out."

keltic_nightshade replied: "cause so many people eat there as well as kids that cary alot of germs plus the places you eat at must be dirty there could also be a prob with your tummy see your dr."

cindybradytooh replied: "Funny you should mention this. For many years, when I was younger, I preferred Burger King to McDonalds. I ate at BK alot, when I wanted a quick hamburger. No problems. (My diet other than that was very good.) Now that I'm older, EVERY SINGLE TIME I eat a BK I get de shites the next day!!! :( Now, I never eat at BK anymore. I never got de shites from McDonalds, but that kinda food is no good. I have not been in a fast food place in YEARS! ~Cindy! :)"

shmooks replied: "Have you ever seen the movie "Fast Food Nation"? Could explain a lot."

parentofthebean replied: "Fast food is never good to eat frequently and shouldn't be your primary diet. Your body is trying to tell you that your poisoning it, try eating healthier. It can also be how your food is being prepared and how long they are leaving it out."

What kind of pet food is healthier to feed your cat, dry food or canned food? We have been feeding our new cat canned food because that is what the shelter said she preffered. However, we just got back from the vet and learned she has gingivitis. I have also heard that most canned food is essentially the same thing as giving your pets junk food or candy. What's the answer?

Does storing food in pots and pans in the refrigerator poison the food? My mom used to always tell me to put left overs in a tupperware and place in the fridge. She said the if you put the pot or pan in the fridge to store the left overs, it would poison the food. My boyfriend does this all the time and I've always refused to eat the food. Well, now I'm sick and he made some chicken soup. He put the soup in the fridge, in the pot and gave me some for work today. I'm scared to eat it because of what Mom used to always say but I can't seem to find anything on the net about it. Has anyone heard of this? Is it true that refrigerated food in pots poisons you? What pet food is good for a one year old cat? I just got my first cat, and he is about 7 months old now. I know I should switch up his food soon from the kitten formula to something, but I want to know which food is best for him. I know foods like Purina and such is like feeding your cat fast food leftovers. (and in some cases spoiled leftovers lol) So I want something good for him, but a lot of the brands I see like Wellness is $13 a bag. Any suggestions on a happy medium?
